Bird Day

I refilled my bird feeder yesterday afternoon, after it being empty for two days. This morning the seed was half gone. I had wondered why I had been seeing only female finches, but today the males were there too. Purple finches of both sexes, and yellow ones, too -- which I think I've determined are Pine Siskins. (Sibley is a big help, SK. :) ) One of the yellow ones was quite tiny, the size of a titmouse -- musta been a youngun. One of the purple finches walked right over it! No harm done, no offense seemed to be taken. There were chestnut-backed chickadees, too, as usual. And I believe one sparrow. Later, an owl gave me a gift.
