Crafts on the Coast features 10th annual arts and crafts festival

Crafts on the Coast 10th Annual Spring Arts and Crafts Festival is a fine reason to visit Yachats, the gem of the Oregon Coast. The spring Arts and Crafts Festival features artisans from three states among the 65 exhibitors at this professional, juried show. The Yachats Commons Building, a charming, refurbished vintage elementary school, will be bursting with talent as the exhibitors showcase their gallery- quality hand crafts, art and gourmet specialty foods. The Festival will be held inside Yachats Commons at Hwy. 10l and 4th Streets in Yachats during Memorial Weekend on Saturday, May 26, 10-5 and Sunday, May 27, 9-4. Admission and parking are free at this family friendly event.

Creative Diversity Celebrated This year marks the 10th year of the high quality Crafts on the Coast crafts festivals and what more fit- ting way than to celebrate the cre- ative diversity of the artisans partic- ipating. An extensive variety of crafts and fine art will be available during the two day festival, includ- ing wood crafts; rugs; several kinds of functional and art pottery; glass art; literary arts with two authors; fabric art including Brazilian Needlework; pine needle baskets; scrimshaw, fine art in watercolor and scratchboard; metal art; can- dles; soaps and herbal body prod- ucts; gourd and kelp art; decorative crystal hangings; original art color- ing books; etchings; fractal comput- er art; photography; mixed media fishing fly patterns; paper art; Tole painting; country crafts; goat milk body products; wheat weaving; engraved eggs; cedar birdhouses and engraved stones; jewelry in a variety of mediums including ancient ivory, fine metals, unique beadwork and semi-precious stones; needlework; and specialty food products including caramel corn, jams & jellies, salt free sea- sonings, BBQ sauce, spreads, hazelnut products, original recipe baked goods and gourmet kettle corn. There really is something for everyone in every price range at this fabulous craft festival. Many arti- sans demonstrate their craft during the event and the specialty food producers offer free samples of their products.

Forence Area artists featured Annette & Louis Bignami, wood turning; Kat Cunningham, ceramic tiles; Mark Kemp & Alex Standing Bear, glass jewelry & fairies; Debbie Kiturkes, mixed media jewelry and pottery; Regina Roth, fine art in watercolor, collage and pen & ink and the Florence Area Humane Society with mixed media art.

Great Food at the Fair Cafe The Fair Cafe, called ”Nibbles & More,” is being operated by Melinda Wright from Great Bear Chocolates and Margie Millard from Millard Family Mushrooms. These venerable chefs will offer two entrees for lunch; homemade chicken pot pie with corn muffin and salad or spinach & cheese enchilada with corn muffin and salad. Choices for breakfast include homemade cranberry orange bread, blueberry muffins and fresh fruit. Snacks offered are Melinda’s famous whole grain mega chipper cookies and a delicious lemon meringue tart. A selection of bever- ages will also be available. The Crafts on the Coast 10th annual spring arts and crafts festival provides a great opportunity to visit beautiful Yachats, be entertained and shop for the special gifts need- ed for Father’s Day, Graduation and throughout the year.
